I'm posting this, seeking court support for this upcoming Monday morning. So: back in April my car was unlawfully repossessed (they disturbed the peace, threatened and assaulted us - and it was on a private driveway) by the son of the guy who approves overtime for the WPD. The police charged 2 of us with assault - but not the other repo driver who was pummeling my legs - and then - because I stupidly shared the video corroborating my story - charged me with “Assault with a Dangerous Weapon: shod foot” (my red Crocs...). They didn't document the reported hate crimes, theft of my dash cam, and didn't care about the disturbance of the peace or that the repo drivers had been trespassing. This was about five hours after I disrupted the Safety Committee, forcing them to continue the chiefs response to the DOJ Investigation to a second public agenda. After asking at city hall why they were withholding the public records related to my repossession - which were necessary to prepare a defense - the city solicitor and supervisor of public records locked me out of the law department. After being sent back there by the information desk, I was escorted out of city hall by the new security guards, who did not have uniforms or deescalation training. This interaction was a few weeks before they were set to start, according to announcements from the city manager. A few weeks later, when I approached city hall after emailing the law department, saying I was going to be there asking about the witheld records again - WPD was waiting for me to serve me a “No Trespassing Order” for City Hall and the surrounding sidewalks (which are public spaces). They also served me the City Manager's first Cease and Desist, trying to claim that CCing and BCCing city employees was criminal harassment. I have neither ceased, nor desisted, and they have not attempted to follow through with harassment charges, because that was baseless. Another month or so later, I protested at a park ribbon cutting. I had a sign and was speaking over the people trying to make announcements. The chief of WPD said I would be locked up, but was unable to articulate a charge and none were filed. At this event, I was assaulted by a police supporter, but WPD has declined to investigate. I documented this event with a drone, which was knocked out of the sky by a different police supporter. When I attempted to open an internal affairs investigation into the officers who showed up but did nothing about either of these events, WPD filed a report about the man who broke my drone but not the woman who assaulted me despite being provided photos and video of both. There is somehow no bodyworn camera footage from any of the responding officers, or record of them being called to the event. Then I protested at the Pride Flag Raising, because it was just a photo op for Democrats and fake allies, (which the conservative catholic city manager still couldn’t risk being seen at!). I documented it with my drone, while exercising my constitutional right to boo the mayor. The same Worcester Municipal Security guard from before, now in uniform, stood there silently and watched. He later flexed his FAA knowledge (he has the same drone credentials I do) to try and claim I was breaking federal laws that both I and the drone I was operating were exempt from. There is also an allegation of me placing a bag of dog poop on a police car, resulting in illegal dumping and disorderly conduct charges because that bag ended up in the street, which they're calling a public hazard. This is documented by a police report by the SWAT officer who served my No Trespassing Order, and partially corroborated by traffic camera records he pulled in a fantastic display of the efforts WPD can go when they care to (but won't when you ask them to). The footage doesn't show me, but does show a bag falling off the hood of the vehicle when it pulls away from the curb. Cops with the Quality of Life taskforce were telling politicians in the last election season that the warrant was for this poop incident, but procedurally it was issued based on the premise that flying my drone at city hall is trespassing, which is baseless for a myriad of reasons. There typically is a “Show Cause” hearing, where a court magistrate determines if there's any evidence but they skipped that for some reason in this situation. In his written report and verbal to police the guard noted that I didn't violate the trespassing order; however that didn't stop the city from seeking an arrest warrant citing - handwritten on the WPD summary of the WMS report - "existing felony charge and seven years of criminal history". I don't know where they got seven years from, since I have a lifetime total of zero convictions. The repo boy and I are set to mutually dismiss assault charges against each other because that's the most sensible move for both of us according to our public defenders. That's scheduled to happen on the first Monday of January. However a week before on the last Monday of December - this upcoming Monday - I'm being arraigned (formally charged) on the new misdemeanors. The prosecutor is going to ask that I be remanded (put in jail) based on the quantity of charges, despite that they're all going to be dismissed sooner or later. Considering my history with COs on Facebook, and interactions with the Worcester sheriff's department in my role documenting blockades at evictions they were unable to lawfully complete, I am concerned for my safety if put in the Worcester jail system. The court has forced us to move this hearing back twice, and is not allowing us to reschedule it on our end. The judge *shouldn't* put me in jail based on both our motion to dismiss the drone trespassing charge and the plan to dismiss the assault charges - but they can. The Worcester courts are almost as corrupt as the Worcester administration, and a few judges already don't like me, so who knows. Court support is silent, nondisruptive - you sit there quietly with me to show the judge I am supported by a community. It doesn't always make a huge difference, but this is the kind of situation where it might. It's also important for others to be there to pay attention and share the story if I can't.
